Disaster Appeal:
Ghana's flood victims need us!
31,000 people have seen their homes submerged, and over 15,000 of them are children.
Now they stand without shelter, food, and no help in sight. Join us in making a difference!
The Akosombo Dam in Ghana holds 150 billion cubic meters of water, but this time, it wasn't enough.
As the rain continued to fall, and the water level approached the breaking point, authorities faced a terrible choice:
They had to release the water, drowning nine communities, or the dam would burst.

"Homeless families are in urgent need of assistance," says Charity Frempong, in charge of Star of Hope Ghana.
The disaster affected 48 schools, 14,700 schoolchildren, and their younger siblings. Families have lost their homes, livestock, crops, and their means of livelihood.
"Many of the affected have barely enough food for one meal a day," Charity reports. Additionally, the drinking water has become contaminated, posing a risk of illness to the children.
That's why we want to provide relief to the affected with clean water, food, and mattresses. It's about alleviating suffering and saving lives!
Star of Hope has been creating a better life for children in Ghana for 41 years. We are on location and have the shills to make a huge impact for the children and people devistated by this flooding.
