Tomorrow is Thanksgiving Day in the USA
We are thankful for you
Did you know Thanksgiving is the fourth Thursday of November and that was set by President Franklin D. Roosevelt in 1939 but where did it come from? Many opinions abound but the accepted account is this; in 1621 the Plymouth colonists and Wampanoag Indians shared an autumn harvest feast that is acknowledged today as one of the first Thanksgiving celebrations in the colonies.
Of course this was the time of giving thanks to God by the pilgrims and to “the creator” by the Wampanoag.
Thanksgiving is a rare holiday in the world. Canada and the USA are the two countries who celebrate a Thanksgiving holiday in a form that we would recognize.
Most of the sixteen countries where we have projects do not celebrate a Thanksgiving holiday. However, Star of Hope staff, and the children in our projects take a moment to be thankful for each sponsor, donor and prayer that provide hope. So if you are a donor or a sponsor we say thank you from our heart.
If you are no a sponsor why not become a Lunch Buddy today and help feed our kids a lunch at school. CLICK HERE
