After a 7.2 earthquake in Haiti, children and their families need your help.
This is what happened-
On Saturday, August 14th at 08:29, local time, Haiti was hit with a magnitude 7.2 earthquake. Soon after, a hurricane passed over the area, making things even more devastating. The large-scale damage included 18,168 houses destroyed, 8,456 homes damaged, 48 churches destroyed, and 43 schools destroyed.
So far, we have-
Our team has consoled people who have lost their homes and loved ones. We have served thousands of meals to the people in the community who have lost everything. Many women from the surrounding area have volunteered to cook food. They cook all day long, but the lines continue to grow longer.
In addition, we are building temporary shelters for the homeless as well as sanitation systems.
As of yet, no government help had arrived in the rural area of Cavaillon where Star of Hope's pastor, Reginald Celestin, was when the quake struck.
This is the plan-
Tony Boursiquot, the operations manager for Star of Hope Haiti, says
The short-term goal is to quickly supply emergency food kits to 700 families (4200 people). Simultaneously they hope to disperse back-to-school bags to 3,000 children who lost all supplies when their schools collapsed, and the storm drenched their books and papers!
What we need-
Prayer! Above all else, the country of Haiti needs prayer. Prayer for food supplies, civil order, government help, and the Gospel of Christ to penetrate the hearts of the people.
We also need fifty-dollar gifts. That amount will provide food for a family for 2 weeks and replace their school supplies.
Please, feed one or more families who lost their whole world to the quake and storm.
Please pray for the people of Haiti.
