During this season of Thanksgiving, our Star of Hope kids across the world give thanks for you! While you may never meet any of the children enrolled in our schools and other projects, they know about you and understand that it is people from what they call the 'rich countries' that make it all possible. Star of Hope donors give them the possibility to go to school, have a lunch, receive therapy for a disability, or have a place to live that is warm and loving.
Each time I visit a project with foreigners, the first thing out of the mouths of the children is thank you! Jennifer, from Kansas was taken aback when that happened to her! It was her first contact with Star of Hope and she wasn't yet a sponsor. When those hundreds of kids ran up to her and said thank you for being my sponsor, she turned to me and said, "What do I say? - I'm not a sponsor yet." I told her that she represented all the sponsors to these kids.
Most countries we serve do not have a special day set aside for giving thanks. But for many of our Star of Hope kids, they truly give thanks for waking up each morning, for having a stomach that isn't empty, for the school and church that Star of Hope supports for their benefit, and for their sponsor.
I have been profoundly moved this past year as I was able to join the celebration of two new church buildings being dedicated. I met adults who consider themselves "Star of Hope Kids". These are men and women who came up through our supported schools and projects and today are godly men and women, who are truly making a difference in Haiti.
I join them in saying thank you for your generous support for Star of Hope through your prayers and gifts.
This week as you give thanks, could you gift a chicken to a family in Haiti or Romania? This would be such a special gift that will truly raise a prayer of thanksgiving.
May God Richly Bless you,
