Help with Food
Aleksandra lives in the countryside her home is a one room flat in a block of flats. The building and the small village is similar to many other inhabited areas in Latvia which started to grow in the fifties as the center near the collective farm. After Latvia "regained" it´s independence, the collective farm era ended, but people who remained in these places try to live as they know, because it is almost impossible to find a job.
Aleksandra moved to this place not long ago. We got to know Aleksandra when she lived in a city social house together with her oldest son who then was a baby. The boy has functional disorders, but while the diagnosis is not set, Aleksandra has no lawful right to claim for social allowance due to the child's invalidity.
Aleksandra has very limited means for living because she also has another younger son. Aleksandra met a man whom she liked very much. She was not bewildered by a fact that he has done his time in prison. Everybody can make mistakes. Everybody can change! Aleksanda believed in that. Those were romantic feelings and a time full of home for a beautiful future together. Unfortunately also this time the the relationship had no fairy tale ending. The man got tired of the common life and left Aleksandra. Again she is alone, but now with two children.
The rented flat is very neat and clean. Aleksandra is very tidy. The flat owners before renting had repaired the flat. There is furniture in the flat and pram for the small child and bike for the oldest son. Aleksandra is a good mother. She can appraise the support of the good people and sincerely thanks for all the help that she receives on regular basis from "Star of Hope".
